June 13, 2018, Alice, Texas
At the June 12th regularly scheduled meeting, the City Council of the City of Alice voted unanimously to approve funding for improvements to the City of Alice recreational fields.
Funded from the City’s hotel/motel occupancy tax fund, the City aims to attract additional tourism by hosting state, regional and district tournaments, in addition to the current active schedule of sports leagues in Alice. The anticipated events will result in increased hotel stays, sales tax contributions, and tourism from other regions of the state to our Hub City.
The improvements will include the development of a fourth kick ball field at the City’s West sports complex on Cameron Street. Other improvements to the City’s kickball, softball and baseball fields will include new bleachers, repairs to concession and restroom facilities, and work to infields and fencing.
